Informed Consent for Telehealth Services

Last updated: September 2026

1. What you are consenting to

Telehealth means receiving mental-health services, assessment, consultation, psychological support, and follow-up, through secure video, audio, and online tools instead of in person. Your professional uses MindDeserves to administer standardised assessments, review your results, hold video sessions, and keep your care record.

2. Who provides your care

This consent covers clinical telehealth services, which are delivered by an independent professional licensed to practise in your own jurisdiction (in the United States, a provider licensed in your state). Your provider's profile shows their qualifications, registration, and location. You can ask your provider about their licence at any time, and you choose, and may change, your provider freely.

Separately, the platform also offers non-clinical wellbeing support: coaching and psychoeducation from trained wellbeing practitioners who are not licensed clinicians. That support is not therapy, diagnosis, or treatment, and is not covered by this telehealth consent.

3. Benefits and risks

Benefits: faster access to qualified professionals, no travel, flexible scheduling, objective standardised assessments, and continuity of records.

Risks: technology can fail mid-session; a video session can miss non-verbal cues an in-person meeting would catch; and despite strong safeguards, no electronic system is entirely without privacy risk. If a session drops, your provider will attempt to reconnect or rebook; if you are in distress and the session cannot continue, use the emergency contacts below.

4. Confidentiality, and its limits

Your sessions and records are confidential and protected as described in the Privacy Policy. Video sessions are encrypted and are not recorded unless you explicitly agree in advance. Confidentiality has limits you should understand before you begin:

  • Safety alerts: if your assessment answers indicate a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, the platform automatically notifies your treating professional (or the platform's clinical safety team if you have none) so a human can follow up.
  • Professional duties: your provider may be legally or ethically required to act on risk of serious harm to you or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable person, or a court order.
  • Guardians: for users under 18, the consenting parent/guardian may access results as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Emergencies

MindDeserves is not a crisis service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (999 UK, 911 US, 112 EU) or go to the nearest emergency department. So that your provider can direct help if a crisis arises during a session, you agree to give your current physical location at the start of each video session.

6. Assessments

The questionnaires and game-based tasks on MindDeserves are standardised instruments scored against published rules. Results are a starting point for your professional's judgement, a score is not, by itself, a diagnosis. Your results become part of your care record and are shared with your treating professional.

7. Children and guardians

A person under 18 receives services only with the recorded consent of a parent or guardian, who agrees to this document on the child's behalf. For school screening programmes, individual results are shown to the school only with the guardian's separate, explicit consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.

8. Fees

Any fee for an assessment or consultation is shown before you book or begin, and is charged before the service is delivered. There are no hidden charges. See the Terms of Service for cancellation and refund terms.

9. Your rights

  • You may withdraw this consent and stop telehealth services at any time, without affecting your right to seek care elsewhere.
  • You may decline any specific assessment or question (clinical assessments require complete answers to produce a valid score, so declining means that assessment is not scored).
  • You may request a copy of your records at any time (self-serve in your privacy settings).
  • You may ask your provider, or [email protected], anything about this consent before agreeing.

10. Acknowledgment

By ticking the consent box at registration (or, for a child, when your guardian does so), you confirm that you have read and understood this document, had the chance to ask questions, and voluntarily consent to receive telehealth mental-health services through MindDeserves under these conditions.
